Well Boys and Girls, was up in Willows on Sat to move my decoys out on to the check... Saw alot of Specs flying around.. Stop by Sacramento Refuge on the way home. 1st of all the mallards all are in full color, I've never seen so many green heads this early. The Spec count for the area and time of year are HUGE...In addition my son and I saw snow geese, all very gray but again very early in the year to see snow geese in the Sac Valley. Opening day my friends the Speckle Bellies are going to take it on the chin! May everyone have a very successful and safe 2009/10 Waterfowl Season!

DOH DOH. How about getting up at 1:30 am driving 1/2 hour to Klamath NWR waiting 5 hours to get in unloading two canoes paddliing for an hour setting 8 dozen duck and geese decoys setting the assjacks just to hear your partner ask "hey did you get the guns ?????" awe yes priceless.

Those who missed ,missed out we had a good turn out and we were very successful with a good inventory on the trailer and nessessary repairs done on the wingers I found my dove stool thats been missing for two years and we got the registration #s on three of our popper guns. how many guns does the club own and who has them in possession we will need them for the NAHRA test. training started at 8:30 and we worked on upland steady to flush and trailing the dogs who are just beginning to do this type of training are catching on to it very well. Members present were Harry and Linda M DanC Dale K Dale W Robert F Sonia Judy St.C and Bill St.C. Bill Nunes dropped off some pidgeons and we trained some puppies at the end of the day talking about hold and forcing. the B-B-Q is finished and it is truely a piece of Art. good job to all who were involved. I wrote NAHRA rules but didnt want to be misconstrued as saying NAHRA is better so this what I will offer if any member has a question about the NAHRA rules post it here and I will do the best to answer them or find out the answer I will also bring my rulebook with me so that anyone can read it until they post the rules on the website. just trying to help make our NAHRA test a huge success.... After a short commute from the NAHRA Spokane field test on Monday Aug 31 Judy and I arrived in Newman at 8:00 pm we had been on two planes and drove from San Jose "no problem" now we needed hunting licenses and shells for Judy's 20ga. which we found at Rite aid and shells at the local liquor store. with a 4 pack of RedBull and some chips... We were ready to now drive 3-4 hours to Bakersfield to hook up with Kent Ernst and Jack Gonzalas from the Kern retriever club. we made it by 12:30 am and headed out to the field at about 4:00am grabbed some coffee and a crossword puzzle "intellectual dove hunters you know" and waited for sun up. needless to say our Guide Jack is the man... we had a wonderful shoot Birds everywhere and 20 of them nicely placed in our bucket. Annie was our hunting dog and made every retrieve for us and when we were done she made a nice long single retrieve about 150yds for another hunter while we were packing up. we finished our limits at 7:15am and went back to some Bacon ,sausage, eggs biscuits and "coors" nap time was in order and well needed. This was Judy's second time dove hunting and first time recording something she will need to claim on her harvest report next year...: ) one other comment I changed guns after using my over under at the gun dog challenge move over bennelli SBE my Browning Citori was on FIRE.........................

Sept 13 is a Sunday, I'd like to go through the trailor and do inventory for the up coming Hunt Test Oct.3-4. Anyone Like to do some training that AM and help go through the trailor after?...... More hands = less work.

there I was... 50 mile per hour winds going left to right .. snow coming down right to left. Ducks to the left of me geese to the right.

my loyal yellow lab by my side... It would have been the best day huntin ever, except one problem.
